Reading an NBA odds slate before tipoff

Start with the scheduled game

Use the NBA's official schedule to confirm the two teams, date and local tipoff. A daily slate may include games across time zones; a price belongs to one event, not simply to a team name. Open that event's comparison before reading another matchup.

If the source lists the fixture but no sportsbook prices, the page should say so. If the feed is unavailable, it should show a feed error. Neither state is evidence that a game has been cancelled.

Read each market in its own row

Moneyline asks for the selected team to win under the sportsbook's stated rules. Point spread adds a signed score threshold. Game total uses the teams' combined score relative to a posted number. The same team can appear in both moneyline and spread rows, but their payouts buy different outcomes.

For spreads and totals, match the line before comparing American prices. An alternate spread is not an extra quote for the main spread. If only one sportsbook shows an exact line, there is no cross-sportsbook best price on it.

Check available player-status information, the quote's capture time and the sportsbook's current screen. A market may be suspended or repriced by tipoff. The table helps locate differences; it is not an order ticket or a guarantee of availability.
