One NBA sportsbook quote is not a comparison

Understand what the odds board can and cannot conclude when only one sportsbook prices a row.

Count exact matches

The comparison needs multiple quotes for the same NBA game, moneyline side, point spread or game total. For a spread or total, the number must match exactly as well. Two sportsbooks on the page do not produce a comparison if one lists over 220.5 and the other over 221.5.

Keep missing distinct from worse

A blank sportsbook cell may mean no quote in the source, a temporarily suspended market, limited coverage or a feed issue. It is not a zero price and is not evidence that the sportsbook pays less. A sole −110 quote should be labeled as one listed offer, with no best-price badge.

Use the current source

If the API is unavailable, the board should report the error instead of saying there are no games. If a fixture is present with no prices, show that separate state. Once prices appear, verify the capture time and the sportsbook's current quote and legal availability where you are.

Worked example

Illustration: Sportsbook A quotes Team A −4.5 at −110. Sportsbook B quotes Team A −5.5 at +100. Each exact-spread row has one sportsbook, so neither is a cross-sportsbook best price for that line.

Illustrative numbers for explaining the calculation. They are not current bookmaker quotes.

Sources and method

Sportsbooks and prices are hypothetical. The guide describes comparison eligibility and feed states, not present-day coverage in any state.
